You call three numbers from an old flyer. One does not pick up. One says he will call back and does not. One finally answers a week later, already busy until next month. This is the normal shape of finding a tradesman in Slovakia, and most people have stopped expecting anything faster.
It does not have to be this way. The wait is not a law of the trade, it is a habit built on phone tag and no visibility into who actually answers quickly. A platform can fix exactly that part, without changing anything about the work itself.
How meiker measures a fast reply
Every request you send starts a real conversation thread with the majster. Meiker looks at how many minutes pass between the moment you send a request and the moment a majster actually writes back, for real, in his own words. Not an automatic confirmation, an actual reply.
For each majster who has answered at least three requests, meiker takes the middle value, the median, across his last twenty replies. Median instead of average matters here: one late-night answer during a family holiday should not wreck an otherwise fast record, and one lucky five-minute reply should not paper over a majster who usually takes days. The median shows what you can actually expect, not a lucky exception in either direction.
The badge, in plain words
When a majster's typical first reply lands within four hours, his profile and his card in the catalog carry the "Reaguje rýchlo" badge, with the rounded time under it, something like "zvyčajne do 2 hodín". You see it before you send anything, so you already know who tends to answer the same day.
Majstri who have not earned the badge simply show nothing extra. There is no red mark, no penalty, no shaming a slow reply. Silence on the badge is the only signal that a majster has not shown a fast pattern yet, or has not answered enough requests for the number to mean anything.
Writing a request a majster can say yes to in two minutes
A fast reply is not only about the majster. A request that is easy to understand gets answered faster than one that needs three follow-up questions before anyone can even guess the price. A few things help every time:
- A photo of the actual spot, taken in normal light, not a description of it from memory
- Rough dimensions or the size of the area, even a hand-measured estimate is enough
- Your town or district, so the majster knows if the job is realistic for him
- When you are actually home, so a visit can be scheduled without five more messages back and forth
A majster who opens a request like this can often answer with a yes, a rough price, and a day within minutes, because there is nothing left to ask.

Urgent is not the same as an emergency
A loose cabinet door before guests arrive tomorrow, a broken drawer slide you need fixed before the weekend, a cracked cover plate you want gone before it gets worse: these are genuinely urgent, and a majster who answers quickly can often still help. Say plainly in your request that you are hoping for a fast turnaround and why, and a fast-reacting majster will usually tell you straight away whether that is realistic.
We are not an emergency service, though, and neither is meiker's catalog. For a water, gas or electricity emergency, call the emergency line first. The badge helps you find a majster who replies quickly to a request, it does not replace the number you should already have for an actual household emergency.

Majstri for small repairs
Small repair jobs are exactly the kind of work where a fast answer matters most: nobody wants to plan a week around a wobbly hinge. Here are majstri who take on small repairs and quick fixes.

Dubová polica do výklenku, už na stene

Zmontovaná šatníková skriňa v spálni

Spálená zásuvka v kuchyni a nová na jej mieste

Nová páková batéria na umývadle namiesto kvapkajúcej
Send the request and see for yourself
The next time something needs fixing, write a clear request with a photo and a rough size, and post it in the catalog. Look for the "Reaguje rýchlo" badge if a fast answer matters to you this time, and let a majster near you show you how quickly this can actually move.
